About Us

Role Description
Joining our dynamic team, you will:
- Evaluate landlord's license applications for alterations.
- Determine remedies for lease and tenancy obligation breaches.
- Handle party wall and neighbourly matters.
- Manage scaffold licenses on Council land.
- Conduct site inspections.
- Offer professional and technical advice and reports on various service aspects.
- Oversee project management and design preparation for building repairs and refurbishments.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
- Develop specifications for capital projects and remedial works.
- Consult with customers on remedial work and liaise with contractors.
- Maintain Quality Assurance systems and processes.
- Act as a Contract Administrator for small-scale remedial work contracts.
- Contribute to policy development, service planning, and projects.
- Stay updated on relevant legislation, technology, and best practices.
- Foster productive relationships with stakeholders.
Managing Performance and Budgets:
- Monitor and report on service performance, quality, and budget targets.
- Ensure financial performance of allocated projects and contract compliance.
- Authorize cost variations and invoices in line with the Council's financial regulations.
- Provide necessary information for budget and performance monitoring.
About You
Knowledge & Skills:
- Commitment to Council policies on Equal Opportunity, customer care, and service delivery.
- Understanding of the Equality Act 2010.
- Chartered Building Surveyor; Surveying Degree or equivalent.
- Chartered Status & member of RICS, RIBA, CIOB, ICE, INSTRUCTE, or equivalent.
- Experience in building surveying, including inspections, defect diagnosis, and specifying remedial works.
- Experience working with stakeholders in a Public Sector Context.
- Exceptional customer care skills and ability to simplify complex information.
- Project Management experience in complex remedial works.
- Experience contributing to a fee-earning business unit.
- Knowledge of building surveying methods, procedures, and processes.
- Commercial awareness and fee-earning business support.
- Knowledge of Party Wall legislation and experience preparing party wall notices.
- Knowledge and experience of Building Regulations.
- Knowledge and experience of CDM regulations.
- Knowledge of Right to Buy principles and methods for surveys.
- General understanding of tenancy terms and leasehold conditions.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Equalities Act 2010.
- Evidence of collaborative working and partnering.
- Proficiency in IT packages (Excel, Word).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to promote positive relationships and teamwork.
- Flexible, agile, and responsive case management approach.
- Ability to attend meetings outside normal working hours.
