6 month fixed term contract (possibility of extension or perm thereafter)
Salary: £30k pro rata
Working hours – Full time – Monday to Friday – 9.00am to 5.30pm
Fully office based role - no option to work from home

Housing and Income Assistant wanted by a dynamic housing company dedicated to tackling the local housing shortage and offering genuinely affordable homes based in Stratford. You will join a small, dedicated team and you will be responsible for promoting a culture of timely payments and managing the rent arrears process across all tenures.

The postholder will be office based (no home visits required) and will assist in chasing outstanding rent arrears.

Duties:

  • Drafting and serving Notices of Seeking Possession (NOSPs) and initiating legal proceedings.
  • Producing regular Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports.
  • Strong understanding of social housing issues.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of best practices in income management and debt collection.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Housing and Welfare Benefits.
  • Proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets and housing management software (e.g., Yardi, Landlord Portal for Universal Credit, and Landlord Portal for Housing Benefit software packages).
  • Ability to use initiative when dealing with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong working knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to income management in both social housing and the private sector.
  • Capability to manage a varied and busy workload, meeting targets and deadlines.
  • High level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Understanding of health and safety responsibilities, including lone working.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications and computerized Housing Rents applications.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
